We are looking for a new team member for our International Cooperation Division in Hamburg (if applicable Berlin) as soon as possible 

Head of Division (d/f/m)

- unlimited / full time (39 hours per week)-

Your tasks:

  • Implementing and further developing the division’s strategic goals; align operational tasks with these goals, promote cross-divisional collaboration and foster the integration of program activities across divisions 
  • Provide technical oversight, coordinate and prioritize tasks, and design efficient processes — particularly through the use of AI — while ensuring adherence to work standards 
  • Represent the organization’s values in daily decisions and behavior, and comply with legal and organizational requirements 
  • Identify requirements for alternative financing instruments and innovative approaches to funding programme work (results‑based financing, commercial contracts), as well as new forms and creative ideas for cooperation with the private sector 
  • Further developing and implementing of the international cooperation strategy in alignment with the objectives of Plan International Germany and the International Plan Federation 
  • Shaping international cooperation by participating in and representing the organization’s interests on relevant committees (Global Programme Network, NO-PD, and Plan EU Board) 
  • Building and maintaining internal and external networks as well as donor relationships 
  • Ensuring the implementation of relevant global policies 
  • Clearly structure and communicate change processes and provide guidance 
  • Close collaboration with the CEO in the international federation 
  • Leading the IZ-Management-Team (some team members are based in our Berlin office), the Division Office and overseeing HR planning, decisions, and initiatives in close collaboration with People & Culture 

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or equivalent degree in business administration, economics, political science, development/humanitarian aid, law, or a related field 
  • Very good knowledge of international humanitarian standards, project quality standards or profound experience in the international cooperations sector 
  • A strong business mindset 
  • Sensitivity for increasing compliance requirements 
  • Several years of experience in a leadership role, ideally in international programs or project teams, or comparable experience in international contexts 
  • Excellent experience and competencies in implementing complex programs & projects, as well as an affinity for AI & technology (strengthening the use of AI across all processes)  
  • Proven knowledge and experience in targeted planning, financing, management, coordinating and monitoring diverse international programs, as well as in ensuring that projects and programs comply with global policies and standards 
  • Good knowledge of analyzing program data and reports to optimize strategic decisions 
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of a responsible management of the division’s budget and revenue planning to ensure the sustainable use of resources 
  • Expertise in child protection, SRHR, youth employment, participation, gender equality, and/or accountability to support informed program development 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving listening to, interacting with, and communicating clearly with people from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, and senior-level internal and external partners, with a high degree of professionalism and pro-activity
